Every organisation that works with children needs to have someone that takes the lead on safeguarding and child protection. In Wales, the Designated Safeguarding Person is the point of contact for anyone in an organisation who is concerned about a child.
NSPCC’s Designated Safeguarding Person (DSP) training for Wales is designed to help DSPs understand their responsibilities under Welsh child protection legislation and guidance.
The course supports DSPs to recognise and respond to concerns about children and young people, understand thresholds for intervention, and make informed decisions in line with the Wales Safeguarding Procedures. It also covers how to support staff who raise concerns, work effectively with parents and carers, and collaborate with multi agency partners such as social services, health and police.
The course meets the requirements of Group C training within the National safeguarding training, learning and development framework.
